Your questions about working with GATE, answered.

Explore how matching works, what it costs, who manages the professional and what happens during a placement. For contractual rights and detailed obligations, the Terms and Conditions and signed Placement Agreement take precedence.

Understanding GATE Talent

GATE Talent connects businesses with skilled African professionals through managed international placements. Your organisation directs their work. GATE manages agreed employment administration, payments, professional development and placement support.

Traditional recruitment often ends after the introduction and hire. GATE remains involved throughout the managed placement, providing the agreed workforce administration, support and learning structure.

You work directly with a dedicated professional on your own priorities rather than buying only a project deliverable. GATE supports the professional and administers the agreed working arrangement.

We see a mismatch between the location of opportunity and the location of ability. GATE helps ambitious African professionals reach international roles while businesses gain access to valuable skills.

Startups, growing businesses and established organisations can discuss managed remote support with GATE. Suitability depends on the work, management capacity, candidate availability and agreed arrangements.

Roles and experience

We work across software development, AI implementation, automation, data, cybersecurity, DevOps, product, marketing, operations, customer support and related disciplines. Availability is assessed for each requirement.

Yes. You can discuss multi-person teams or professionals across several disciplines. Matching, management and pricing are defined around the actual requirement.

The fee includes the agreed professional services and managed workforce support, such as employment and payment administration, continuing development, relationship reviews and applicable support processes. The Placement Agreement defines the full scope.

Standard managed placements have six or twelve-month minimum commitments, beginning on the confirmed professional start date. The agreed obligations are set out in the Placement Agreement.

It starts the standard matching process and is credited against the first placement payment. It is refundable if GATE cannot present at least three suitable candidates, subject to the reservation terms. Read our Terms and Conditions before paying.

A fixed-term placement is not a cancel-anytime monthly subscription. Early termination rights, agreed exceptions and financial consequences are covered in the Terms and Conditions and signed Placement Agreement.

Invoicing and payment

GATE normally issues invoices in batches of three separate monthly invoices. Each invoice has its own monthly due date, so the client is not required to pay the entire batch at once.

Recurring placement invoices are due on the first calendar day of each month, in advance of the relevant service period.

Before starting, the client pays for the remaining part of the starting month and the following full month. Thereafter, monthly payments fall due on the first. See the Terms and Conditions for prorating rules.

Yes. Ongoing placement invoices can be paid by BACS transfer or card. The standard £500 online reservation is paid securely by card.

GATE will contact the client to address overdue payments. Applicable fees, suspension rights and remedies depend on the Terms and Conditions and Placement Agreement, not on an informal FAQ promise.

Matching and pathways

Candidate screening considers relevant professional experience, technical capability, communication and practical readiness for the agreed role. Additional preparation may apply depending on the pathway.

Yes. Employers review suitable profiles and interview shortlisted professionals before choosing who joins their team.

GATE will review your feedback and discuss next steps. A reservation refund depends on whether the agreed number of suitable candidates was presented and the reservation terms. See the Terms and Conditions.

Fast Track typically targets around three weeks. Enhanced preparation typically takes eight to twelve weeks. Timing depends on availability, agreed requirements and interviews; these are estimates, not guarantees.

Fast Track matches existing professional skills for quicker placement. Enhanced adds structured AI implementation and automation preparation. They have the same pricing within the relevant standard or senior experience tier. How it works

Working together

Your business provides objectives, priorities, supervision and company-specific onboarding. GATE manages the agreed employment relationship and supporting services.

Yes. Working hours, expected overlap and remote-working requirements are discussed during matching and confirmed before the placement starts.

Reporting, leave administration and continuity expectations are handled under the professional arrangement and Placement Agreement. Detailed financial or replacement rights are in the Terms and Conditions.

Raise the issue promptly with GATE. We will assess it and follow the agreed support, improvement or replacement process. The contractual remedies are defined in the Placement Agreement.

GATE will discuss continuity and potential replacement under the agreement. The timing, obligations and remedies depend on the circumstances and applicable Terms and Conditions.

AI, security and data

An embedded AI Lead helps a business identify, prioritise, implement and maintain practical AI improvements from within the team, including process work, automation, adoption and documentation. Read our AI implementation guide

Depending on the role and experience, professionals may support automation, integrations, AI systems, workflow redesign, documentation and team adoption. The agreed scope is role-specific.

The Placement Agreement governs intellectual property, systems, documentation and handover obligations. GATE encourages appropriate use of client-controlled tools and accounts. See the Terms and Conditions and agreement.

Security requirements, confidentiality obligations, permitted system access and incident responsibilities are documented for each relevant arrangement. Full legal provisions appear in the Terms and Conditions, Placement Agreement and data protection documentation.

Overseas access to personal data requires appropriate security and data protection assessment, including any applicable international transfer rules. The parties must agree necessary safeguards before access. See the relevant data protection documentation.

The GATE Project

The GATE Project is the scholarship and social-impact pathway supporting African professionals through practical skills development and opportunities for international work. Explore the GATE Project

GATE Talent provides experienced professionals on longer six or twelve-month placements. The GATE Project focuses on developing Associates through shorter, supervised three-month placement opportunities.

Associates undertake approximately 100 hours of practical preparation covering workflow automation, APIs, integrations, n8n, Claude and real-world AI implementation thinking.

A standard FDE Associate placement costs £600 per month for three months, normally at 20 hours a week, subject to applicable tax. The first £600 is paid online after choosing an Associate; the next two invoices are issued promptly with separate monthly due dates. See the Terms and Conditions.

The Project helps participants build practical experience, stronger portfolios and international career opportunities. Its funds are reinvested into its not-for-profit development mission; verified impact evidence is published when available.
